The short answer
Every Verkada device has two costs: the hardware, paid once, and a license, paid per device for a 1-, 3-, 5-, or 10-year term. The camera models on this page run $999 to $4,299 at manufacturer list. The camera license is $249 per camera per year on a 1-year term, or $659 for three years (about $219.67 a year). Door controllers run $899 to $5,999 depending on door count, plus $249 per door per year.
The license covers the Command cloud platform, software updates, and mobile apps, and footage is stored on the camera itself, so there is no NVR server to buy, power, or replace.

Camera hardware prices

Licenses: what you pay per year
A Verkada device does not work without an active license, so the license is the real recurring cost of the system. Paying for several years up front brings the camera license down from $249 a year on the 1-year term to about $219.67 to $219.90 a year on the 3-, 5-, and 10-year terms, which all land close together. Not every license works that way, so compare the per-year figures in the table.

What an 8-camera site costs over 3 years

Not in that number: installation. Install cost depends on cable-run lengths and ceiling types, whether your switches have spare PoE ports and power budget, mounting surfaces, and how many floors the cameras span. A single-story office with an open ceiling is a different job from a warehouse with 40-foot steel, which is what the site survey prices.

What moves the price up or down
- Retention. Footage is stored on the camera. Bigger onboard storage or the 30-day cloud storage add-on ($149 per camera per year) raises cost; the 256GB models hold up to 30 days.
- Term length. Multi-year camera, door, and environmental sensor licenses cost less per year than a 1-year term. The license table shows the per-year figure for every term.
- Multisensors. One multisensor housing covers four camera positions.
- Government models. FIPS and TAA variants for federal work are separate SKUs; check the product page for each.
- Larger projects. Multi-site or high-count projects are quoted line by line from a site survey or a quote request.
