Verkada cameras require one cloud license per device to connect to Verkada Command. The license unlocks continuous firmware updates, encrypted remote access, intelligent computer-vision analytics, and 24/7 technical support. Because all video compute occurs on the camera itself, licensing covers the full cloud management platform without requiring local recording servers, gateway appliances, or separate client viewer licenses.

Standard single-sensor cameras take the standard LIC-CAM license. For multisensor cameras, licensing is scoped to the hardware generation: two-sensor models require LIC-CAM-MLT2, while four-sensor units require LIC-CAM-MLT4. Commercial and Government (FIPS/FedRAMP) tiers are separate SKUs and must match the compliance posture of the deployed hardware. All variants are offered in one, three, five, and ten-year durations.

Verkada operates on a strict co-termination model where all licenses within a Command organization share a single renewal date. When adding new cameras mid-cycle, select Capacity Increase (CAP) licenses; Verkada recalculates your organization's unified expiration date based on the remaining credit and new term. When extending an existing deployment nearing its anniversary, select Renewal (RNW) licenses to move the entire organization expiration forward. Hardware warranty coverage remains active for the duration of the license term. HTS verifies your current Command license count and co-term date before quoting to ensure your renewal timeline remains perfectly aligned.
