Official documentation

The Verkada alarm expanders family provides the physical interface hardware required to scale wired intrusion detection and preserve existing security infrastructure during facility modernizations. Commercial enterprises, healthcare facilities, and educational campuses often have dozens of functional, in-wall wired sensors—including magnetic door contacts, glass-break sensors, seismic vault detectors, and overhead door contacts—installed across extensive perimeters. Replacing these functional contact loops with wireless hardware is frequently cost-prohibitive and structurally impractical. The BE32 8-Zone Alarm Expander allows organizations to bridge existing copper security loops directly into the Verkada cloud architecture.

Designed specifically for the United States New Alarms architecture, the BE32 connects to the flagship BP52 Alarm Panel over a supervised 4-wire RS-485 bus topology. Each BE32 module provides eight fully programmable, individually supervised wired zone inputs. The expander supports normally open (NO) and normally closed (NC) sensor loops, as well as single end-of-line (SEOL) and double end-of-line (DEOL) resistor configurations to actively monitor wire integrity and immediately report line tampering or cut cables.

In addition to sensor loop monitoring, the BE32 features an integrated 12V DC auxiliary power output to energize powered detection peripherals such as PIR motion detectors, active photo beams, and acoustic glass-break sensors. Housed in a tamper-monitored metal enclosure, the unit automatically alerts administrators in Command if the panel chassis is opened or disconnected from the bus. Multiple BE32 expanders can be homed to a single BP52 panel, scaling wired zone capacity to meet large commercial floorplans. HTS audits legacy sensor inventories and resistor schemes to ensure clean, turnkey panel migrations.

How to choose

  • Preserving existing in-wall copper sensor loops via the BE32 versus installing new wireless sensors
  • Expanding BP52 wired inputs in 8-zone increments across large commercial footprints
  • Configuring single (SEOL) versus double (DEOL) end-of-line resistor supervision for tamper detection
  • Powering wired detectors via the BE32 onboard 12V auxiliary DC supply versus external power supplies
