Official documentation

The Verkada PoE injectors family provides dedicated single-port midspan power delivery for network devices that exceed standard PoE budgets or attach to unpowered switch ports. High-capability physical security hardware—including motorized PTZ cameras, multisensor cameras, long-range infrared bullet cameras, horn speakers, and door controllers—draws substantial wattage during active operation. When edge switches lack sufficient power budgets or rely on non-PoE network ports, dedicated injectors supply reliable operating current over standard copper cabling without replacing the core switch.

The catalog features two regional power variants of the standard-compliant midspan injector. The INJ-POE-PLUS delivers IEEE 802.3at (PoE+) and backward-compatible IEEE 802.3af (PoE) power, supplying up to 30 watts of direct current over standard Category 5e, Category 6, or Category 6A cable runs up to 100 meters (328 feet). It incorporates dual shielded Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000 Mbps) RJ45 ports for data input and combined data/power output, preserving full network throughput without throttling. The INJ-POE-PLUS-JP variant offers identical electrical specifications paired with a regional Japanese power cord assembly for international installations.

Every injector incorporates active power negotiation circuitry that detects whether the connected endpoint is PoE-compliant before delivering voltage, preventing electrical damage to legacy network cards and unpowered devices. Built-in over-voltage, over-current, and short-circuit protections safeguard connected Verkada hardware against localized electrical anomalies. HTS sizes total closet power requirements and recommends midspan injectors wherever power budgets require augmentation.

How to choose

  • Standard North American NEMA power cord (INJ-POE-PLUS) versus Japanese regional cord assembly (INJ-POE-PLUS-JP)
  • Midspan PoE+ injector deployment versus adding or upgrading PoE+ enabled network switches
  • High-wattage endpoints (motorized PTZs, multisensor cameras, horn speakers, access controllers) versus standard 15W PoE devices
  • Single-run midspan injection up to 100 meters (328 feet) on Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6A cabling
