The Verkada D-series camera family represents the foundational generation of Verkada hybrid cloud video security hardware. Built around localized solid-state storage and cloud-managed command infrastructure, the D-series eliminated centralized network video recorders (NVRs) and digital video servers by processing and retaining video directly on the edge appliance. While newer deployments frequently specify the CD-series and CB-series, active enterprise facilities continue to operate extensive D-series installations that require targeted expansion, optical rebalancing, and direct hardware replacement.

The catalog selection spans four core models with defined optical profiles and retention tiers. The D30 is a 3MP indoor dome camera featuring an optical zoom lens (3x motorized optical zoom with a 2.8mm–8.4mm varifocal range), making it well suited for interior spaces requiring adjustable framing after installation. The D40 is a compact 5MP indoor mini dome utilizing a fixed wide-angle lens for consistent situational coverage across hallways, reception areas, and retail floors. The D50 provides a weather-rated, vandal-resistant outdoor dome housing for exterior building envelopes. The D80 delivers a 12MP high-resolution panoramic fisheye sensor that captures 180° or 360° views with software dewarping directly in the Command browser interface.

Retention tiers across the D-series span 30, 60, 90, and 120 days of continuous standard-resolution video, backed by onboard industrial SSD capacities ranging from 128GB to 768GB. All units draw Power over Ethernet (PoE 802.3af/at) and transmit encrypted management metadata over TLS to Command, while video stays local until reviewed. HTS sources D-series units for clients maintaining existing device baselines, matching standardized mounting backplates, and avoiding recabling during phased system upgrades.
