Operating a GC31 requires a dedicated cellular gateway license (LIC-GC), which includes multi-carrier dual-SIM redundancy across major LTE networks with automated carrier failover and unlimited cloud data for non-video Verkada devices.
A single base gateway license covers all data transmitted by connected Verkada access control door controllers, environmental sensors, intrusion panels, and viewing stations attached to the GC31's PoE ports. However, because video streaming consumes substantial cellular bandwidth, any Verkada camera streaming through the GC31 requires an add-on video data plan (LIC-GC-1VD) per camera. This distinct data license guarantees uncapped cloud recording, thumbnail scrubbing, and live streaming without carrier throttling or surprise overage invoices.
Licenses are sold on one, three, five, and ten-year terms in both Capacity Increase (CAP) and Renewal (RNW) tiers. Government SKUs (-G) enforce secure US-based traffic routing and FedRAMP alignment.
